PRETZEL SALAD

 Serves 6-8 

This recipe is a unique take on the all-American favorite, Jell-0 salad.

 It is simply delicious and will make a big hit at a school potluck or a festive spring party.

This recipe will be easy to prepare at home or in the classroom.
 

   
               

2 2/3 cups of broken pretzel sticks
1 cup melted butter

1 12-ounce carton whipped 
cream cheese

1 ¼ cups sugar     
1 8-ounce container Cool Whip dessert topping                                                                                                         

1 6-ounce package 
strawberry Jell-O gelatin
 
2 cups water

1 10-ounce container 
frozen strawberries
 
1 13x9 glass baking pan                                                                                                        

1 knife for spreading
1 wooden spoon

1 saucepan
1 large mixing bowl

1.     Preheat over to 400 degrees. 

2.     Place pretzels and butter on bottom of baking pan and bake in 400-degree oven for 10 minutes. Let cool. 

3. Mix the cream cheese with the sugar. Spread over lukewarm pretzels. 

  1. Spread Cool Whip dessert topping over top of cheese. Set aside.
  1. Boil water in saucepan. Pour hot water in bowl with Jell-O gelatin and dissolve. Put in frozen strawberries and stir mixture until it thickens
    and has a jellied consistency.

  6.Spread over top of other layers and refrigerate for one to two hours before serving. 

  7.Cut in squares to serve.

  8.Can be made a day ahead.
